I first soldered this cranky alligator of sterling silver to an oval piece of sterling sheet. Then, I framed that in copper wire, and soldered it another base piece of oval offset solid sterling silver, making a "frame" underneath. I textured the top oval with dots around the alligator, and then stamped the words "PONIES ARE FOR SISSIES" on that bottom part. It is a funky-cool original piece. Comfortable to wear, and sure to bring compliments and conversations!
The pendant and chain are both oxidized, or antiqued, to bring out the natural color of the metals and add depth. Only sterling silver actually touches the wearer.
This piece is one of a kind! I have made an original bail that ensures that the chain and pendant stay put on the wearer's neck, without slipping or worrying about the clasp coming around.
The pendant itself is about 1.75" across x 1.25" tall. The chain is a solid sterling silver cable. Tiny copper balls accent where the chain attaches. The clasp is sterling lobster style.
