Artisan Sterling Silver and Etched Copper Necklace Pendant, Seattle Skyline, The Emerald City, Metalsmith, Mixed Metal, Washington, Rainier

I began with a solid sterling rectangle, and made rustic, mismatched loops for attaching to a chain. Then I hand drew a Seattle Skyline scene, complete with Space Needle and Mount Rainier, on copper with a resist, and etched it in an acid bath. Once cleaned and cut, I soldered the scene to the sterling backing. What looks great with copper, and is perfect for the Emerald City? Why, Emeralds, of course! I have attached 2 rough emerald in matrix nuggets to the pendant to begin the chain. Then, a tiny sterling heart on each side. The chain is also sterling silver. Very classy! The pendant and chain are both oxidized, or antiqued, to bring out the natural color of the metals and add depth. Perfect gift - have something no one else will!
As this piece was completely ad hoc by hand, it is one of a kind!
